Hours of Darkness DLC Launches June 5

05/24/2018 12:00 PM

Say goodbye to the lush mountains of Hope County and hello to the dark jungles of Vietnam in Far Cry 5’s first post-launch adventure, Hours of Darkness. Releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on June 5, Hours of Darkness puts you in the shoes of Hope County’s Wendell “Red” Redler, on a mission to rescue his imprisoned squadmates and survive long enough to reach the extraction point. Included in the Season Pass and Gold Editions of Far Cry 5, Hours of Darkness can also be purchased as a standalone DLC for $11.99.

The setting isn’t all that’s changed. Hours of Darkness will introduce new weapons, like the Vietnam-era M16, SVD sniper rifle, and M60 machine gun, all of which can be taken back to Far Cry 5’s main campaign as well. Along with your new arsenal, you’ll get the ability to call in bombing airstrikes, as well as the new Survival Instinct feature, which grants up to four temporary perks for players racking up stealth kills.

After finishing Hours of Darkness, you’ll unlock two additional modes: Survivor Mode, which strips down your weaponry and ramps up the challenge to provide a more authentic experience, and Action Movie Mode, which gives you additional weapon slots and enhances the airstrike ability. Additionally, all players, even those who don’t own the DLC, will have free access to Vietnam-themed assets in Far Cry Arcade starting on May 24. Those hoping to explore the sights and the sounds of Vietnam can pick up the Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness soundtrack starting today. Composed by Wade MacNeil and Andrew Gordon Macpherson, with participation from Kim Uyen Le, the soundtrack blends traditional Vietnamese instruments with hypnotic 60’s psychedelic soundscapes.

Vietnam isn’t the only place you’ll be travelling to. Starting May 29, Season Pass holders can revisit the Rook Islands as Far Cry 3: Classic Edition launches on all platforms, four weeks before it becomes available for standalone purchase.
