Seventeen years after a global nuclear catastrophe, civilization re-emerges from the chaos to find a world dramatically changed. In Hope County, Montana, the remaining populace has divided into different groups, each with their own rules for survival.

While these groups attempt to rebuild their lives, a new threat has arisen, twin sisters Mickey and Lou .

They lead a merciless band of scavengers, the Highwaymen, across the country plundering and pillaging for their own benefit and enjoyment. For them, there is no tomorrow – only the present.
